ok so something amazing just happened to me.

it all started when i went upstairs to my little brother's room. his window faces the front yard and he was playing in the snow with the neighborhood kids. i turned off my ipod and left my phone in my room and just sat there and gazed at the scene. my brother saw me and motioned for me to come outside but i shook my head 'no.' this wasn't a surprise to him because he knows i hate the snow and cold weather and i stay as far away from it as possible.

i don't know exactly what, but seeing him being a kid outside made me want to join in. i was sick of school and homework and stress and i just wanted to be a kid again. so i put on my jacket and scarf and hat and gloves and boots and went outside. when he saw me dressed to play, the look on his face made me want to cry. it had been so long since i'd gone outside with him, or spent any time with him at all. he said "you're playing with us?!" and i said "no," but about 5 minutes later, kids were pinning me to the ground and shoving snow in my face and messing up my hair. and you know what? it didn't bother me. i actually liked it.

i really, really needed that today. something to take away the pain, even if only for an hour. something to remind me that life is normal and carefree somewhere.
